Penetanguishene Centennial Museum
Région touristique : Southern Georgian Bay
Located in a heritage building built in 1875, the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum offers a glimpse into the historic past of one of Ontario's oldest communities. The original building was used as the C. Beck General Store and Lumber Office. One of the only General Store museums located on its original site in Ontario, it displays the history of lumbering and development of the area. A new addition houses a display gallery for rotating exhibits, a Sports Hall of Fame, and a research area and archives for genealogical and historical research. A reproduction of the town's first fire hall and Council Chambers houses an antique fire truck and firefighting equipment. A Victorian garden of perennial flowers and a post and beam picnic shelter/bandshell complete the outdoor areas.
