The Gallery of Early Canadian Flight
Région touristique : Grey-Bruce
The Gallery of Early Canadian Flight is a collection of artefacts, artists prints, photographs, and documents, showing Canada's development as an aviation nation. We look at the pioneering days of commercial aviation, including the tremendous contribution of past and present bush pilots, WW I Canadian pilots, such as Canada's most dedicated ace, William Barker, Ray Collishaw, Gerald Birks, and the controversial Billy Bishop. We also have many fine photos, prints, and artefacts showing Canada's major contribution to the air war of WW II.

In co-operation with the Wiarton Chapter of COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association), we offer monthly social evenings, featuring guest speakers who have been, or are still actively playing a part in Canadian military and civil aviation. Or, we may run one of our historically interesting aviation videos. We also offer tours and demonstrations in the airport's aviation weather station, next door to the gallery.
Ouvert : Due to physical changes at Wiarton-Keppel Airport, The Gallery of Early Canadian Flight will be temporarily operating with a much-reduced presence. We are currently working toward an expandeed online presence until such time as larger and more permanent facilities are available.

In addition to our regular collection, we exhibit museum quality models of early aircraft, both for historical interest and as tools for our educational program. This B.E.2e which was used during World War I was crafted by the late "Hal" Cotton.
