Nancy Island Historic Site houses H.M.S. Nancy, a fur trading schooner that was impressed into military service during the War of 1812. At Wasaga Beach in 1814 she fought a bitter battle and was destroyed. The site houses the remains of the schooner, a theatre with an award winning short video, educational displays and a replica lighthouse - gift store at the entrance to Nancy Island. On site interpreters provide weekly educational programs during the summer.

Nancy Island Historic Site is open during the summer daily. June, September and October hours of operation exist. Regularly scheduled educational programs are offered in July and August. Special and school group tours are available upon request during the late spring and early fall.
Ouvert : Open daily 10:00am-6:00pm during the summer. On weekends during the late spring (10:00am-6:00pm)and early fall (11:00am-5:00pm).

Site is not open for Victoria Day weekend, but other areas of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park are. Open July 1st, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day and Thanksgiving.

Visitors with vehicles must purchase a daily vehicle permit for the park if they use the Nancy Island Historic Site parking lot. $5.50 for 2 hours, $11.00 for the full day. Bus, senior and disabled passes are available (different fees apply for these).

Remains of the British schooner "Nancy," which was trapped and destroyed in the Nottawasaga River, can be viewed in front of the museum; the museum houses models and artifacts dealing with the story of the "Nancy" and some of the marine aspects of the War of 1812; replica of an early Upper Lakes lighthouse

Programmes Éducatifs
Family programs are offered most Thursday's at 8:00pm throughout the summer. Programs are focused on the War or 1812, the fur trade and voyageurs, early resort history and logging. School programming is offered in June and September on request. On-site interpreters are always available for answering questions. Interpreters are often in period costume with props. In late July, Wasaga Under Siege: A War of 1812 Experience occurs at Nancy Island Historic Site and at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. In 2008, the event will be held from July 25 to the 27. For the event, a small admission fee applies to access the Grand Encampment on Nancy Island. Historical battles take place on the beach. Other special events occur throughout the summer. Nancy (with French subtitles for summer 2007), gift store, washrooms and French brochure describing the Nancy.
