Summary "MDA Archaeological Objects Thesaurus"
Names of archaeological objects (e.g. amulet; flask; tile) that can be recovered from archaeological fieldwork. Available in English only. <br/><br/>Developed by the MDA Archaeological Objects Thesaurus Working Party between 1995 and 1997.<br/><br/>The Thesarus is intended "to establish guidance and common principles for the recording of object names within the archaeological profession and related disciplines". For the purposes of the Thesaurus, archaeological objects are be defined as: ""any physical evidence, usually portable, resulting from past human activity and human interaction with the environment, or environmental remains, that can be recovered through archaeological fieldwork".<br/><br/>The thesaurus includes 2,204 terms, derived from the simple object name and authority lists submitted by members of the Working Party, together with the Object Class derived from the RCHME/English Heritage Thesaurus of Monument Types.<br/><br/>Follows ISO 2788 standard for Establishment and Development of Monolingual Thesauri.<br/>Available in English only.
